Enhanced Sleep Checks - Reporting

The following feature will be available via a phased rollout from 19 February 2026

Enhanced Sleep Checks

Following the release of enhanced sleep checks in Playground, which allow educators to record recommended checks such as sleep position and breathing in line with Red Nose Australia guidelines, the Playground web platform’s Sleep Events Report will now display these details whenever they’re logged.

Ensuring these details are available in reporting provides services with the evidence they need to demonstrate adherence to best-practice guidelines during assessment and to respond thoroughly to any reportable incidents.

Bug Fix (phased release from 3 February):Logging sleep events earlier than child sign-in time.
We’ve fixed an issue that could cause the app to crash when an educator’s device time is set earlier than the child’s sign‑in time. This occurred when attempting to create a sleep event with a timestamp earlier than the recorded sign‑in.
To prevent this, when the device time is out of sync, instead of crashing, the app will now display a clear message, ‘Device time is earlier than the sign‑in time.’

Bug Fix (phased release from 2 February):
Sleep events are now visible and display on the correct day.
An issue prevented some sleep events from appearing next to the child on the Sleep Events screen.
This happened because events created at certain times were being recorded under the previous day (for example, being saved as 29 January instead of 30 January). As a result, the events were stored on the wrong date and didn’t show up where users expected.
This has been fixed, and all sleep events will now appear on the correct day.
To benefit from these updates and bug fixes, please update Playground to the latest version listed below.

Mobile Versions
Playground iOS: 2.31.2
Playground Android version: 2.31.1

Sleep Times

To ensure sleep times are displayed correctly in the Home app after the Playground release, guardians must update the Home app to the latest version 2.12.0 (released on 14 January).
